I first became aware of the dancer Natalia Osipova 17 years ago, at a time when I was taking dance lessons myself: I chanced upon a documentary about the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and ended up watching it countless times, in no small part because it put Osipova’s incredible talent on display.
Years later, I was overjoyed to see her once again on my screen on medici.tv, and to find that her talent had only blossomed in the intervening time. Now an étoile at the Royal Ballet in London, Osipova stands out in every role she so gracefully steps into — like that of Gamzatti in this gorgeous production of La Bayadère.
